Dear NWOEA Local Presidents,
The Professional Development Committee (PDC) of the Northwestern Ohio Education Association is proud to announce the offering of Local Leader Grants for the 2025-2026 school year to assist local leaders with member outreach and engagement activities in their respective local associations.
Grant funding is available from NWOEA on a first come, first come basis until all funding has been exhausted:
– Associations of 100 or less members = $300
– Associations of 101-300 members = $450
– Associations of 301 members or more = $600
The intent of this funding is to provide opportunities for local association leaders to reach out and engage with their membership to best meet the current needs of their association. Funds can be used in a variety of areas to support the local needs. Ideas include but are not limited to: compensation for a substitute to allow the local leader to meet with/visit members during the school day, early educator events, pay day celebrations, food for members while conducting building visits, member events, member birthday recognition, release time to discuss the importance of OEA Fund participation with members, materials one-on-one conversation supplies, etc.
Locals may submit one (1) Local Leader Grant per school year in accordance with the following deadlines.
● Applications received between July 1st – September 1st will be reviewed by the NWOEA Professional Development Committee (PDC) by September 8th with a decision being communicated to the application originator by September 15th
● Applications received between September 2nd – November 1st will be reviewed by the NWOEA Professional Development Committee (PDC) by November 8th with a decision being communicated to the application originator by November 15th
● Applications received between November 2nd – January 31st will be reviewed by the NWOEA Professional Development Committee (PDC) February 8th with a decision being communicated to the application originator by February 15th 2025-2026 Local Leader
Grant Application After the outreach and engagement activities have been completed, the Final Cost Report sent with the approval notice must be completed (with copies of receipts included) submitted to the NWOEA Center.
Once these materials have been approved, a reimbursement check for the actual expenses up to the approved amount will be issued to the local association. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the NWOEA Center at nwoea.center@gmail.com.
